For those of you who are not already aware, since the day the reset was announced I have been coordinating one of the efforts to see the old database hosted for the purposes of the continuation of that story, with the working title for this carrying on of New Worlds being Star Wars: Age of Conflagration. While my team and I are still waiting for Tuz to make the database available, solid plans have been put forward and discussed and we are quite confident that once the database is up it will take a relatively short period of time to complete enough of the transitional work to bring players back on, I anticipate that this stage would reached within less than fortnight.

While some efforts to improve the game overall will be ongoing for quite some time, a general plan for story and structure necessary to bring us forward is in place, and while not set in stone, we shall be able to quickly run with it. At this point I have shared details on it with a number of people and I have gotten a largely positive response from those who have seen it (and are generally interested in continuing, I am sure those who have no interest in continuing forward would likely not be swayed by any arguments to the contrary, after all this is a game, and some level of enthusiasm going in is essential). For those who I have not talked to, if you are genuinely interested in hearing about our plans in more detail I would be happy to discussing things further. I am not going to go into a huge amount of detail here, if for no other reason that we want to keep the debate focus amongst people who are interested to begin with and not get bogged down trying to make changes to appease folks who want be coming in after all. That being said for those who are interested I am happy to go into as much detail as I can and we are quite happy to hear feedback.

Though we are still finalising the composition of our administration, we have largely accomplished the hiring of Wizards and Royals for the game and I am more than pleased with some of the people who have agreed to participate. Throughout this process we have tried to work with as diverse a group as possible. We aren't all friends, but we are all committed to the success of this project. We have a dedicated host lined up as well as a dedicated back up as well, so we will be able to move forward with the database without huge problems. We have an Economy Wizard who is very dedicated to completely overhauling that segment of the game, she has a lot of ideas that I think will enrich the experience of the playerbase. An awesome Feature Character and Force User duo who have refreshing attitudes on that subject. A Player Wizard who commands the respect of many and who is one of the most fair minded Faction Heads that we have had on New Worlds.

Our team of Royals has some similarly awesome folks including individuals who will be serving roles as Theme Assistants/Senior GameMasters. Our game will see a comprehensive reintroduction of the GameMaster system as a whole and these positions will be made functional within the structure of the game. While we still want to highly encourage player initiative in generating roleplay and tinyplots we are committed to the staff playing and intricate role in this part of the game experience. In particular we plan to have a dedicate presence within various themes of the Star Wars universe and not simply be focused on one huge plot to the detriment of the storyline else where in the game.

Finally to provide some previous of just how the storyline is going to be brought forward, here is a preview of some of what you will see if you come on board with us. The game will be advanced to the beginning of the next year, 21 ABY. This is to allow for enough time for those stories that can not be continued onward (such as would be the case when key people don't continue on with us) to be drawn to a close and to bring us to the point where new story lines can logically enter. Our hope is to provide a little disruption to people as possible and where disruption occurs provide maximum autonomy and freedom for players in choosing the future of their own characters and organisations in our world. It is important to note that with all the disagreement between people before the reset was announced, it is fair to say that some level of change will be for the best. The game will start out with more simplified and streamlined faction choices to start. The Alliance and Empire will end up in the sort of large scale conflict people have learned to expect from Star Wars. The Corporate Sector Authority will return as its own faction, with players once again given the opportunity to be involved in the administration of the corporations of the game.

Some fun opportunities will also be placed in front of the Independent community to bring people together into more organised roleplay situations with a new faction most likely entering the picture. Jedi and Sith characters will be given far greater flexibility in which faction they associate with. In general the opportunities provide along with the segments of the playerbase that are mostly likely to join or return are likely to lead to factions that are comprised of more balanced membership rosters compared to each other. The direction your player takes in this world will be almost entirely at your own discretion, but I think you will find some intriguing choices put forward which ultimately might lead you to heading down paths you had not anticipated for them in past.

I know that this has probably been kind of spammy for you, but I want to provide as much of the picture to you as I could without getting bogged down in drawn out debates over minute details. Those of you who would like more details about our plans are encouraged to contact me and I will be happy to share with you about this. We have had a long and rich history between SW1 and New Worlds. I know not everyone will be interested in the direction my team and I are heading, but I do want to encourage everyone to explore continuing on with one of the projects available to you. I have roleplayed with many kick ass characters and I hope to see as many as possible continue forward.

It does, but I have no idea what the information is. They haven't posted it anywhere that I can find it.

Star Wars
Episode: 21 ABY
Age of Strife

After months of peaceful uncertainty, the galaxy once again becomes embroiled in war. Agents of the Galactic Alliance discover a plan for invasion by the Sith Imperium and lead a pre-emptive attack on the fleet assembled at Empress Teta. The Sith suffered devastating losses in the battle forcing those that remain to return to the shadows or carve a new destiny elsewhere. Free of the shackles of the Sith, the Imperium returns to the governance of the Moff Council.

In an attempt to take advantage of their initial victory, the Galactic Alliance lays siege to the Imperium world of Bakura. However, the siege has turned into a bloody stalemate at the hands of fierce Imperial resistance. As the stalemate lingers, member world's support of the Galactic Alliance wanes and reassert their independence led by the Corporate Sector Authority. The Galactic Alliance is a failed experiment and the moniker of Republic readopted.

After the Battle of Muunilinst, the Republic military is defeated by the reborn Empire, but loses on both sides during the conflict are staggering. A cease-fire is declared and the Republic prepares to elect a new Chief of State to lead them forward. Rumours abound, however, that the cease-fire will end any day, and the Republic prepares for the worst: an Imperial attack in the Core.

The galaxy is rife with strife in every corner. The Empire and Republic are shadows of their former selves. The ranks of the Jedi and Sith were thinned dramatically. The Corporate Sector Authority is putting out fires of its own, as not all over its former citizens and corporations were eager to return to the old status quo. And the number of independent worlds now multiplying as they flee membership from the traditional powers. A new power is looking to emerge as representatives gather on The Wheel, preparing to inaugurate a Confederation of planets with the purpose of independent preservation as the new conflicts threaten to tear the galaxy apart.

Star Wars: Age of Strife is a continuation of the story of Star Wars: New Worlds (itself a spin off of Star Wars MUSH) set several months ahead. The game officially starts on 1 July 2010 which will be Day 1 of Month 1 of 21 ABY. You can connect at tardis.wayfarer.org port 4200. While the finishing touches are being made, people can connect to the grid and start working on pursuing the potential of their characters in the reshaped galaxy. We await both the return of the old players and the arrival of the new players; all of whom will help tell new stories for the Empire, Republic, CSA, Confederation, and Independent spheres.
